Knowing what changes to make to your home isn’t always easy. Sometimes you just need clear, independent advice before deciding whether to apply for a Disabled Facilities Grant or make other arrangements.

That’s where the Home Adaptations Advice Network comes in. This is a group of organisations across the country who can give free, practical advice about adaptations and the grant process.

We are currently growing the network, and a postcode search will be available here in 2026. In the meantime, you can:

  • Speak to your local council’s housing or adaptations team.
  • Contact national charities such as Age UK, Citizens Advice Bureaux, or Disability Rights UK.
  • Use our guides on this site to understand the steps involved.

The aim of the Advice Network is simple: to make it easier for you to find the right help, at the right time.
